Contigo has recalled about 6 million Contigo Kids Cleanable Water Bottles for the second time in less than a year. They received over 400 reports of the spout detaching. This includes 27 reports of caregivers finding spouts inside children’s mouths. The spout on the Contigo Kids Cleanable Water Bottles are a choking hazard to children.

How do I know if I have a recalled water bottle?

Check the base and cover of your child’s Contigo water bottles. If the base and cover is black, you need to stop using it immediately. Only the models with a spout base and spout cover black in color are included in this recall.

You can also find a code printed on the rim and along the bottom of the bottle. If it has the numbers 20-074, it is part of the recall. The water bottles were sold individually, in 2-packs, and in 3-packs. The recalled bottles were sold nationwide and online from April 2018 until now. Target, Walmart, and Costco were among the many retailers who carried this product.

What should I do if I have a recalled bottle?

Stop using the bottle immediately. Contigo is offering free replacements for returned water bottles that are part of this recall.

What happened during the first recall?

During the first recall in August of 2019, Contigo provided replacement lids. These replacement lids have also been found to be defective. Do not use the replacement lids provided from the previous recall.

To sum it up, stop using any Contigo Kids Cleanable Water Bottle part of this recall immediately.
