VTech Recalls Two Different Baby Toys

On January 25th, VTech voluntarily recalled two different baby toys due to the potential for injury: their Shake & Sing Elephant Rattle and Lights & Lullabies Travel Mobile. If you have either product, please read on for more information.

Shake & Sing Elephant Rattle

VTech's Shake & Sing Elephant Rattle is being voluntarily recalled due to a choking hazard. The company had five reports of the ears breaking off the purple elephant, which can pose a choking hazard. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The model number is 80-184800, and the rattle has a purple elephant, with one blue ear and one yellow ear. The bottom portion of the rattle is a black and white teething ring, and the rattle sings when it is turned on. Near the battery door on the back of the toy, the number 1848 is printed. It was sold at various retailers, including, but not limited to, Walmart, Meijer, and Amazon.com between November 2015 and November 2017.

Lights & Lullabies Travel Mobile

VTech's Lights & Lullabies Travel Mobile is being voluntarily recalled, as well, due to the risk of injury. There were six reports of the clamp that holds the mobile to the crib cracking. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but there is a risk of the clamp breaking and the mobile falling into the crib, potentially injuring the child. There are two model numbers involved in the recall: 80-503000 is for the blue mobile, which was sold at Kmart, Walmart, Amazon.com, and zulily.com, and 80-503050 is for the pink mobile, which was sold exclusively at Amazon.com. The model numbers are printed on the battery cover. The mobiles have three stars attached to the top and play music, nature sounds, and nursery rhymes. The mobiles were sold between February 2017 and November 2017.
