Latest Safety Recalls for Children

As parents and guardians, you work hard to keep your children safe, and have to place an enormous amount of trust in the products you choose. Even the best brands can end up being recalled by the manufacturer for safety or health issues, sometimes major ones. Below is a list of recent recalls to be aware of that may affect your children or family:

  • Duncan Hines Cake Mix: Con Agra has issued a voluntary recall on Duncan Hines Classic White, Classic Yellow, Confetti, and Butter Golden cake mixes. Salmonella was found in a sample and is possibly linked to an outbreak.
  • Eddie Bauer Infant Carriers: Faulty buckles can break, posing the risk of the child falling.
  • LÍLLÉbaby Baby Carriers: The chest-clip strap may become detached from the shoulder strap resulting in the risk of the child falling.
  • Shimano Bike Helmets: The helmets failed to meet federal safety standards and put children at risk for head injury.
  • Fantasia Accessories: Cat & Jack furry critter slap bracelets have been recalled due to sharp edges that are easily exposed.
  • i play Infant Rattles: The small pieces on the infant rattles can easily detach, posing a choking hazard.
  • Brookstone Wireless Speaker: The Big Blue Party wireless indoor/outdoor speaker’s lithium battery may overheat, resulting in a fire.
  • INNOCHEER Children's Musical Instruments Set: This set is sold only through Amazon. The paint on several items has lead levels that exceed safety standards and should be returned immediately.
  • Metal Playground Climbers: Due to the location of the welded handgrips, the large gap size presents a strangulation hazard, as a child’s body could easily become lodged between them.
  • Mountain Warehouse Children’s' Water Bottles: The spout may detach, exposing children to a small ring, which poses a choking hazard.
  • Tubeez Baby Bath Support Seats: This product fails to meet federal safety standards. It can easily be tipped, allowing the infant to slip underneath the front support, posing a drowning risk.

When a product you own is recalled, stop use immediately, return it to the store or contact the manufacturer for further instructions. Always register new purchases by filling out the warranty card, allowing companies to notify their customers of product recalls individually. Even if a recall has not been made on a product, practice caution and common sense, and if something seems dangerous or "off", stop use and contact the company right away to alert them of a possible defect. For more recalls, and to stay up-to-date on any new information, visit the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's website often. If you have any questions or concerns regarding recent recalls or your child’s health, please do not hesitate to contact us.
